Producing: The Nuts and Bolts of Touring Theatre

1st - 10th February

Venue: Online

Cost: Free

Access support is available

Join Wise Children’s producing team - Poppy keeling (Executive Producer), Monica Bakir (Producer) and Rhys Bugler (Assistant Producer) - for an introduction to the basics of touring theatre.

This course will cover: budgeting, commissioning, scheduling, contracting, fundraising and how to pull together a tour pack. We’ll also throw in some creative curveballs just to keep it exciting. The course will be broken down into group sessions, ‘homework’ tasks and one-to-one professional development time. All elements will take place online. You will end the course with the tools to create an industry-ready tour pack.

The course will run from Wednesday 1st February to Friday 10th February and involve 8 hours of contact time online. There will also be tasks to work on between sessions. Here you can access a provisional schedule for the course. All times are in GMT.

Who we’re looking for: This course will be most useful to emerging or early-career producers. Maybe you work in a theatre office and are ready to move into an assistant producer role or you might be a producer planning your first tour. If you’ve got some professional theatre producing or administration experience under your belt, but want to learn more about touring, we want to hear from you.

Wise Children are committed to equal opportunities and actively welcome candidates from all backgrounds. To remove barriers, School for Wise Children courses are free, and wide-ranging access support is available.

Keep an eye on our socials as we’ll be releasing more information about the course in due time.
