THE WUTHERING HEIGHTS SOUND CLASH

[FROM WISE CHILDREN]

We're getting ready for our new show, Wuthering Heights, which is a National Theatre co-production.

At this stage of production, Emma likes to talk to the creative team and actors about her ideas for the show. This is the moment when the unique world she is creating is shared with, and influenced by, other key artists.  There are lots of ways to communicate ideas; images, poetry, architecture... Music, however, is a universal language. Music is deeply personal, sparks emotions and speaks volumes. We think this conversation is one of the most illuminating and entertaining of the process - and thought it would be fun to share some of the discoveries and some of the surprise.

In this series of podcasts, Emma chats with some of the cast and talks about the production - remember we haven’t been able to start rehearsals yet!  She invites them to bring along some music to share. It might be music that inspires them, something connected to their character or just an irresistible tune they like to play on their iPhone to get them warmed up.

Expect the most eclectic playlist imaginable!

We wanted to write a piece about Sound Clash history but it was getting so long that it was becoming a website in itself! There are already great ones available, so, if you want to find out more about the roots of the Sound Clash and Sound System Culture we recommend Julian Henriques book - Sonic Bodies. Closer to home there's a great article here about Bristol's Sound System Culture
